Congratulations to Syd Rayburn on her M.S. thesis!

2026 Syd Rayburn M.S.

Congratulations to Syd Rayburn who successfully defended her M.S. thesis research! Syd's thesis focused on the structural, metamorphic, and geochronological evolution of the Permian–Triassic Vedder Complex in southern British Columbia and northwest Washington. Through detailed field mapping and structural analysis, Syd unraveled a polyphase deformation history across greenschist- to amphibolite-facies rocks within the Vedder Complex. Combining these structural observations with rutile and titanite U-Pb and 40Ar/39Ar geochronology, her work refines the timing and duration of Permian and Triassic subduction-zone metamorphism in this portion of the Cordillera.
